Jeff Boozer Named Middle School Principal
Jeffrey Boozer, Assistant Principal at Pendleton High School, has been named Principal of Riverside Middle School in Anderson School District Four. Mr. Boozer succeeds Dr. Kevin Black, who recently announced his retirement after 28 years of service in public education. The Anderson School District Four Board of Trustees approved the administration’s recommendation at its board meeting on June 12, 2017.
“Mr. Boozer brings to the position strong leadership skills, enthusiasm for learning, and an understanding of how to prepare students for success in high school and beyond,” said Dr. Joanne Avery, Superintendent for Anderson Four. “He brings a natural talent for building relationships and making connections.”
Mr. Boozer received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Secondary Social Studies Education and a Masters of Education Degree in Counselor Education in elementary and secondary, both from Clemson University. He also holds a Master of Education in Secondary Administration and Supervision from Anderson University. He brings 19 years of experience as a social studies teacher, guidance counselor, High School That Works (HSTW) and Advanced Placement Coordinator, and assistant principal. In addition to earning his CDF certification, he has coached C-Team, JV and Varsity basketball while at Palmetto High School in Anderson One. For the past three years he has served as an assistant principal at Pendleton High School and has been a part of the school’s success, which in 2017 placed them the 21st best high school in the state according to the U.S. News Best High Schools rankings.
“Mr. Boozer has demonstrated the skills to lead a school,” said Dr. Avery. “He has earned the respect of his colleagues for his ability to engage with students, improve instructional effectiveness, as well as handle tough situations. I have full confidence that his talents, combined with the outstanding team at Riverside Middle, will only move them to greater levels of success.”
Mr. Boozer’s honors include being named the Pendleton Region Barbara H. James Counselor of the Year and the South Carolina Counselor of the Year in 2013. Additionally, he was recognized as Palmetto High’s Teacher of the Year and a district finalist in Anderson One in 2006. He is a trained facilitator for SREB/HSTW Technical Assistance visits, has provided numerous presentations on the Freshman Academy concept and senior projects at national conferences, and has volunteered his time to serve as President for Cedar Grove Elementary School’s PTA.
“I am excited to join such an amazing, hard-working, and dedicated faculty and staff,” said Mr. Boozer. “It is an honor to work with a team that is focused on providing an educational environment that is results-oriented. My time at Pendleton High School has prepared me to step into this important leadership position. I will miss my friends at Pendleton. And at the same time, look forward to bringing my experience and understanding of what it takes to be successful at the high school level to our future graduates.”
“Dr. Black has been a key member of our team for the past 14 years,” said Dr. Avery. “Under his leadership, he transformed Riverside Middle School into one the most high-achieving middle schools in South Carolina. Most notably, Riverside Middle School was recognized as one of Palmetto’s Finest Schools by the South Carolina Association of School Administrators in 2006. Additionally, he supported the district’s vision while serving as Director of Student Services and Principal of Pendleton Elementary School. The School Board and Administration thank him for his years of service and commitment to our students.”
Mr. Boozer will assume his position as principal on July 1, 2017. A drop-in for parents and the community to meet Mr. Boozer will be announced soon.
